Annual Great Scarecrow Festival & Antique Fair
Preparations are already under way for the 2014 Festival,
scheduled for October 3 to 5.
The 2013 Scarecrow Festival and Antique Fair was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who made the trip to our beautiful seaside town of Mahone Bay. We had the most amazing warm, sunny weather and a record-breaking crowd.
We have some winners to congratulate!
The winners of the 2013 Great Pumpkin Carving and Decorating competition were:
Category 14 to Adult
1st prize: Nancy McCarthy – “Africa”
2nd prize: Zachory Domingues – “Cobra”
3rd prize: Pat Beaton – “Pumpkin with Small Pumpkin in Mouth”
Best Carved Ensemble: “Settlers Museum”
Category 8 to 13 years
Funniest Pumpkin – Evelynne Marchand
Scariest Pumpkin – Soheil Ghaffari
Most Creative Pumpkin – Reese Stuart
Honourable Mention – Froya Smith
Funniest Pumpkin – Gabriel Duffney

Congratulations to the winners and a huge thank you to everyone who took part. Carving pumpkins and making scarecrows takes a lot of time and effort and we truly appreciate your effort.
With a focus on kids and families this year, there were unique kids activities sponsored by the Atlantica Hotel and Marina, Oak Island and featuring live entertainment and music, crafts, and a Mad Science show, all at no charge. These activities were so popular we plan to do the same and more in 2014.
