Best Pie in Nova Scotia - Old Fashioned

Pie Baking Contest

Remember when pies were brought out with pride to be exhibited, tasted and judged? Get out your rolling pin and submit your masterpiece! Saturday, Oct. 3rd at Trinity United Church Hall, Nova Scotia’s premiere pie bakers, (this could be you!) can enter pies in 5 categories for cash prizes and bragging rights for a whole year! All pies will be available for viewing from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. and will be auctioned off after prizes are awarded by the judges. Magical Pumpkin Path

This is what it’s all about! Jo-Ann will wow you once more with over 150 of her beautifully carved pumpkins! Join the fun, and delight in the unusual and fascinating variety of carved pumpkins as you stroll the lighted pumpkin path. Friday and Saturday evenings, 7–9 pm near the Untied Church parking lot. Pumpkins are on sale, on site, Saturday at 8:30pm or at JoAnn’s Market on Sunday. Thousands enjoy this wonderful display each year.

Residents and businesses alike take part in The Great Scarecrow Challenge.  Scarecrow artistry acknowledgements will be delivered on Sunday.

The Antique Fair
Once again, three halls – one great Antique Fair! The Mahone Bay Centre, the Anglican Church Hall, and the Legion Hall will be the centres of attention for antiques collectors! Some of the most respected dealers around will display their wares on Friday, 1:00-6:00 pm, Saturday 10:00am - 6:00pm, and Sunday 1:00pm - 5:00pm.  Just $2 per person gets you entrance to all three halls!


Interested in Quilts?

Yet again this year, come watch the folks at Suttles & Seawinds as they demonstrate the fine art of quilting – Saturday and Sunday from 2 – 4 pm.

Kick Up Your Heels!

Tap your toes and snap your fingers to the sounds of the Centennial Dixieland Jazz Band – performing under the apple tree between Jo-Ann’s Market and the Old Station – Saturday 2–5:00pm. Enjoy!

 

Stuff for the Kids

Many great games, fun activities and neat stuff for kids of all ages, at the Bandstand Saturday and Sunday, Noon to 4:00pm, weather permitting.

 

Granny’s Attic Yard Sale

Support the Settler’s Museum while checking out the collectibles, linens, and great old stuff at Granny’s Attic Yard Sale – Saturday morning 8:00am, at The Eclectic Garage, corner of Clearway & Main. Get there early!

 

Scarecruise Antique Car Show

Admire the old beauties as they arrive in style, Sunday, on the Government Wharf, 8:00am - 4:00pm.

Don’t forge to support the Fire Department, whose members will be on site, flip-flopping burgers all day!

 

Storytelling & Walking Tours

Learn all about the history of Mahone Bay for $2.00 and 90 minutes or less! Join local “know it all” Bob Sayer, Saturday and Sunday for a walk and talk.  Tours start 1:00pm both days at the Visitor Information Centre, Edgewater Street.
