Active Play on the Bay!
There are more than enough ways to have an active vacay in our small corner of the world!
Take a hike through the wonderful Jubilee Trails. Still have energy to burn? Rent a bike from Sweet Ride Cycling and explore the Rails to Trails. Try the Dynamite Trail over the trestle bridge towards Chester or, if you have some time on your hands, bike the Bay to Bay Trail the whole 10 kilometres to Lunenburg, grab a bite and a pint at the cozy Knot Pub (try the famous caesar salad), explore the historic town, and cycle home.
Prefer to stay close to the water? Now you can take a guided paddle tour around the legendary Oak Island, available through Oak Island Resort and Conference Centre. Rent a kayak (single or double) or a stand-up paddle board at Cape LaHave Adventures in town or from Pleasant Paddling in nearby Blue Rocks and take a guided or self-guided tour around the bay and visit some of the nearby islands. (For a full list of MICA islands, click here). There's no better place to photograph the Three Churches than from the water.
Want to go further? The Lunenburg Yacht Club is a quick 12-minute drive away on Herman’s Island. Here you can head out on a sailboat or even learn to row. Sailing lessons are available all summer long and there's a weekly family sail.
And there's more. If fishing, swimming, surfing, whale-watching, geocaching or orienteering are more your style ask the locals or check out the Mahone Bay Facebook page for the latest events and listings.
You’ll sleep well tonight!
